International Speaker – Dr. Jamie Ellis 

Jamie Ellis is the Gahan Endowed Professor of Entomology in the Department of Entomology and Nematology at the University of Florida. He has a BS degree in Biology from the University of Georgia (USA) and a PhD in Entomology from Rhodes University in South Africa. At the University of Florida, Jamie has responsibilities in extension, instruction and research. Regarding his extension work, Jamie created the UF, South Florida, and Caribbean Bee Colleges, and the UF Master Beekeeper Program. As an instructor, Jamie supervises PhD and masters students. Currently, Jamie and his team have over 30 active research projects in the fields of honey bee husbandry, conservation and ecology, and integrated crop pollination.

Shelley Hoover

International Speaker –  Dr. Shelley Hoover 

Dr. Shelley Hoover is the Apiculture Unit Head for the Alberta Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. She is the President of the Canadian Association of Professional Apiculturists and a Past President of the Entomological Society of Alberta. Her research focuses on honey bee breeding, management, and nutrition, and pollination. Shelley completed her PhD on worker ovary development at Simon Fraser University, British Columbia. Prior to her current position, she was a Research Associate with the University of British Columbia and the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Beaverlodge Research Farm, and an National Science and Engineering Research Council postdoctoral fellow at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand.



Dr Tom Mulholland

Dr. Tom Mulholland

Dr Tom Mulholland is an Emergency Department Physician at Auckland Hospital, a lecturer in Psychological Medicine at Auckland clinical school, founder of the Healthy Thinking Institute and developer of global wellbeing App KYND (Know Your Numbers Dashboard).

With more than 25 years of clinical experience, he’s written two internationally best-selling books on Healthy Thinking including ‘Healthy Thinking – How to Turn Life’s Lemons into Lemonade’ and ‘The Power of Healthy Thinking – To Change Your Attitude and Your Life’.

An expert on workplace stress, emotional control, productivity, Dr Mulholland has given over 1,000 keynote presentations to international clients like Google, Microsoft, and Hilton. For the last three years has been touring and speaking around New Zealand in his retro Chevy V8 ambulance.

Sarah’s role at NZ Story is to engage with the New Zealand export community; to share the role we collectively need to play in telling a broader story about New Zealand to drive consideration and favourability for NZ products and services. Sarah was responsible for the launch of the FernMark Licence Programme that allows eligible NZ businesses to use our trade mark silver fern to authenticate country of origin and build trust with global consumers and distributors. She also works alongside industry bodies to create Sector Stories that align with our country values of Kaitiaki, Ingenuity & Integrity. Having worked with businesses both in New Zealand and in Europe, Sarah is keen to help businesses leverage their connection to New Zealand to support their export growth.
